Introducing the Third Person

Discussion Questions:

1) Was there anything from the sermon or the passage that stuck out to you?

2) Jesus described the Holy Spirit as "the Spirit of Truth" and said the world cannot receive Him because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. This creates a distinction between those who can perceive spiritual realities and those who cannot. The Spirit illuminates truth in ways that transcend human understanding. How has the Holy Spirit helped you understand a spiritual truth that you couldn't grasp through intellectual effort alone?

3) There is a clear connection between loving God and keeping His commandments. However, this is not about following a legalistic checklist but about submitting to God's will as we abide with Him. True obedience flows from relationship rather than obligation. In what area of your life do you find it most challenging to submit to God's will rather than following your own plan?

4) Jesus promised that the Spirit would not just be with believers but would be in them. This indwelling presence means we are never alone and have access to divine guidance and power. The Spirit empowers us to do what we could never accomplish in our own strength. What difference does it make in your daily life to know that the Spirit of God lives within you?

5) The Holy Spirit will always align with Scripture, point to Christ, and reflect God's character. These three tests help us discern whether something is truly from the Spirit or from another source. Authentic spiritual experiences enhance our love for Jesus rather than drawing attention elsewhere. What steps do you take to discern whether a thought, feeling, or message is from the Holy Spirit?
